Weekly live video-chats
Every week, we’re hosting a live video-chat, where we gather to talk about orchestration, sample libraries, templates, composing techniques, etc.

This is a great tool that allows us to meet each other and makes the online experience more alive.

All chats are recorded so you can watch them later if you can’t attend the session.
And to make sure you’ve got continued support

The Symphonic Virtual Orchestration Course
Your strategic step-by-step action plan to help you
Compose, Arrange, Mix, and Master your orchestral music
and produce professional-sounding midi mockups.
Join today and...
#1 – You’ll become an expert at the fundamentals of synthestration, and will learn how to make your mockups sound outstanding.

#2 – You’ll discover the power of effective templates. You’ll learn about big vs. modular templates and will build your own template, which will almost guarantee you the best results right from the start.

#3 – You’ll discover the Go-To synthestration techniques (also referred to as arranging for samples), and how these techniques differ from traditional orchestration. You’ll save tons of time and boost your production abilities, making your orchestral music sound stellar.

These techniques apply across the board, no matter what sample libraries you’re using.

#4 – You’ll discover the mixing secrets that apply to orchestral music. These include secrets I’ve learned personally from top mixing engineers that I’ve had the privilege of meeting after years working in the industry. Now I’ll be sharing them with you, so you don’t have to spend hundreds of frustrating hours reading mixing books, visiting forums, or buying tutorials, and then trying to decide which techniques actually work with orchestral music.

This module includes one section about the secrets of Mastering orchestral music so that your music sounds great no matter what system, speakers, or headphones are used for the playback.

#5 – In the “Pro” version of this course, you’ll have access to 4 amazing case studies where you’ll see behind the scenes as I produce 4 tracks in totally different styles.

The case studies include insights and tips for the following styles:

– Trailer emotional orchestral
– Action, high intensity
– Romantic, love
– Thriller, mystery

#6 – In the “Expert” version of the course, you’ll even get a chance to sit down with me, live, one-on-one on Skype for 1 hour to walk through and review your template, so you end up with the most effective setup. If there’s time, I’ll also review one of your tracks so that you know for sure that you understood the course lessons and applied them the right way.

As a bonus, you will get one extra one-on-one coaching call with a Class A film or video game composer based in Hollywood and actively working in the industry.

What others have asked
before joining Symphonic Virtual Orchestration
How long will it take me to get through the course?
Week one starts with module one. Every week opens a new module. The course takes 8 weeks if you’re doing one week per module.
Can I get behind? Do I have to follow the course’s pace or can I go my own?
You can take as long as you want to complete the course. You can go at your own pace or follow the course’s schedule of approximately 8 weeks. Whatever you choose, the materials are always there and you can submit the assignments whenever you want. They will always get reviewed, no matter how late you submit them.

The course materials do not expire and you’ll have access to them for life, including future course updates and improvements!
How long will I have access to the SVO course materials?
You’ll have access to the course materials for life, as well as to the Facebook group AND the weekly chats. You can join any weekly chat that you want, even if your course has finished. And the chat sessions are recorded, so you can watch them at any time.
I have a busy life. Will I have the time to do this?
You can’t get behind in this course. Even though we go through a new module every week, it’s there for you whenever you’re ready, and is accessible on any mobile device.
How much time per week is necessary if I want to follow your schedule?
It depends on the week. Some weeks you’ll be done in 50 minutes, some weeks you’ll have to spend some hours.

Also, if you decide to do the assignments (which we encourage since it’s the best way to learn), then it’s going to take a bit longer since you’ll be producing an orchestral cue that will be reviewed.

But if you’re late submitting an assignment, that’s ok. Marc will always review the assignments, no matter when you submit them, even if you’re done sometime after the course closes. This course is designed to accommodate your personal and professional life, allowing you to use the course materials and do the assignments when you can, while allowing you to keep the course materials forever.
I cannot read music and have never taken orchestration classes or anything like that. I have learned everything by ear. Will I still be able to successfully complete the course?
Honestly, we have lots of fun and engaging conversations with students who don’t have formal training. Sometimes, when you’ve got a lot of training you can develop complexes or insecurities about what is right or wrong, what you should or shouldn’t do when composing, and so forth.

We’re recently getting more students who don’t read music and instead produce by ear. In this course we don’t approach music in a traditional way. We don’t talk about notes. Instead, we approach mockup production as a collection musical ideas, layers, orchestral families, and musical gestures.

In addition, this course puts emphasis on the production side: sound, mixing, plugins, libraries, mastering, and so forth.

If you’re one of those with little or no traditional formal training, you’ll still gain loads of practical, useful information and experience in this course. We’d love to have you on board!
Will there be actual Orchestration lessons or will I just learn how to shape sound?
The first modules Synthestration lessons, which are all about “orchestrating and arranging for samples”. Then, the mixing and mastering modules will cover all aspects of “how to shape the sound.”

Also, the course covers the basics of real, traditional orchestration.

Finally, all students at Symphonic Virtual Orchestration get 50% off of any other course from CinematicComposing.com. The new Orchestration Course is now available, and more courses are being planned.
Is this course geared to writing and orchestrating music or is it more focused on the mixing side of things?
This is an advanced course on orchestral/hybrid mockup production. Yes, it touches on some of the more basic concepts, but it will require you to already have some experience and basic orchestration and composing knowledge. The first part is about synthestration techniques (orchestrating for samples).

The second part is all about advanced orchestral mixing and mastering techniques. This part is about 70% of the course materials, and it is the core of the SVO course.

Most courses will cover the basics (expression, modulation, articulations, keyswitches, and similar topics). This course touches those concepts, but puts the emphasis on concepts like orchestral mixing depth, specific synthestration techniques, advanced mixing automation with orchestral stems, applying reverb properly to make our mockups sound bigger (while still keeping separation and avoiding muddiness), and many more advanced and practical topics.

On top of that, the PRO version includes the masterclass with score mixing engineer Bobby Fernandez. You’ll have a chance to directly ask him questions during the live video chat.
I see you have different tiers of enrollment. What is the difference?
Yes, we’ve got three versions: Basic, PRO and EXPERT.

The Basic is the bare bones version of the course.

The PRO version is the one that 90% of our students take because it includes the Bobby Fernandez masterclass plus the 4 case studies.

About 5% of our students sign up for the EXPERT version. It’s designed for those who want this VIP sort of treatment 🙂  or more of a 1-to-1 experience. The main difference is a private class with Marc, plus another private class with a composer working in major projects in Hollywood, plus the exact list of Marc’s template with libraries, patches, and settings.

The weekly group chats are the same for all three versions.
Do you have a refund policy?
Yes. We are giving you a full 60 DAYS to go through the training, do the assignments, implement what you learn, and watch your production skills begin to grow.

If you reach out within 60 days to show me that you’ve kept up with all the work (you have to show me proof!), and for some reason still haven’t seen any progress, then I’ll be happy to return the investment.

Please read our policy HERE for more information.
